Windows 11 Launches October 5th
Windows 11 will become available on October 5, 2021. From this date, the free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs and new PCs will be sold as standard with Windows 11.
What’s new in Windows 11?
- A new, modern, fresh, clean and beautiful design.
- Access your recent files through Start no matter what device you were viewing them on.
- Optimize your screen real estate with Snap Layouts, Snap Groups and Desktops.
- Microsoft Teams is now integrated into the taskbar, providing a faster way to connect.
- New accessibility improvements that were built for and by people with disabilities.
- Optimized for speed, efficiency and improved experiences with touch, digital pen and voice input.
- Delivers new experiences that work how you work, are secure by design, and easy and familiar for IT to deploy and manage.
When can I upgrade?
The phased upgrade to Windows 11 starts on October 5, starting with new eligible devices.
Windows 11 will then roll out over time to in-market devices based on a range of factors such as – hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of device and more. All eligible devices will be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.
